The Engineer I, Certification Test, helps ensure products are tested and meet subjective and objective audio quality requirements.
Ensures the test equipment performs as intended and detects and reports malfunctions.
Works closely with the DSP and Audio developers to objectively test and perform/document subjective listening of new audio products.
As the Engineer, you must be able to design and implement experiments to validate audio DSP designs.
This engineer will organize and report test findings back to stakeholders.
This role can be hybrid based in our Niles, IL headquarters.
Responsibilities Execute test cases using the ACQUA Audio Measurement software suite Review test plans and results with engineers and project managers Work as part of a cross-functional development team to validate the audio performance of our products.
Work under the direction of DSP software and audio hardware engineers to create and execute tests.
Work with calibrated audio measurement systems in a highly controlled manner Understand the standards behind the objective test suites (going beyond the pass/fail criteria) and explain intent of tests upon request Diagnose and troubleshoot setup issues and recognize when unexpected outcomes occur Gather audio and other telemetry data during debugging sessions with DSP/Audio engineers Design and execute listening tests Perform cross-product-line audio testing, curate results, and effectively communicate results to product line stakeholdersTest and analyze competitive systems, document results, and provide differential analysesUse and develop tool sets for testing various audio and controlUse scripting tools to automate tests using python, Matlab, C/C++, etc.
where possiblePerform research and development for department initiatives and advanced developmentEstimate, organize, and document tasksCommunicate technical topics both verbally and in written formQualifications BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
An emphasis in Digital Signal Processing or Audio Processing is desired Minimum 3 years of experience working with professional audio products in live sound, recording or AV conferencing environments Minimum 2 years of experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP or C/C+
Minimum 2 years of experience with automated and/or regression testing Minimum 2 years of experience with test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, audio analyzers, and digital multi-meters.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
